Marseilles Deck
From Tarot of the Bohemians, 1896.
A young figure stands at the edge of a cliff, facing the horizon with a small white dog at their heels. Their belongings are bundled on a stick, and they carry a white rose – symbol of pure potential. Seemingly unaware or unconcerned about the precipice, they embody the spirit of pure beginning.
The Fool represents new beginnings, leaps of faith, and untamed potential. For writers, this card encourages us to embrace the blank page without fear, start new projects with child-like wonder, and allow our characters to make bold, unexpected choices.
Today’s Affirmation: “I embrace the joy of creation without judgment or fear.”
Story Seed
A retired accountant stands in front of a comedy club’s open mic sign-up sheet, pencil trembling in her hand. She’s spent thirty years calculating risks for others, but tonight she’s choosing to be foolish. In her sensible handbag, next to her reading glasses and hand sanitizer, sits a notebook filled with jokes she’s never dared to tell.
Writing Prompt
Write a scene where your character takes a leap into the unknown. Focus on the moment of decision – that exhilarating pause between thought and action. What seemingly irrational choice might lead them to exactly where they need to be? Let them surprise you with their courage or delightful recklessness.
